What Is The Resurrection?

Generally speaking, the Resurrection story has to do with a time when Jesus walked amongst the people of Jerusalem. He entered the city on the first Palm Sunday – a day that many congregations still acknowledge to this day. During his time there, Jesus healed the sick, performed miracles, and spoke of a different kind of kingdom. Some of his messages and actions challenged the current religion and politicians of his time, which led to one of his disciples betraying him to the authorities.

Jesus was then arrested to be tried by the Romans. He was tried unjustly and suffered a vast amount of physical and mental torture such as being nailed to a wooden cross with a crown of thorns. Good Friday in the present day is known as the day that Jesus took his last breath on Earth. His body was then placed in a tomb and sealed with a heavy stone.

On the third day of Jesus’ death, his tomb was found empty by some of his followers. Jesus then appeared to his followers and encouraged them to spread the word of what they had seen.

The story of the Resurrection is a cornerstone of much of the Christian faith, as it represents a victory over sin and death.

Importance of the Resurrection

The Resurrection is important because it symbolizes a prophecy that came true and involved miracles that are still talked about today. Not only does this story serve as a pivotal point in the history Christianity but it also is a way for some to provide proof of the Divine, provide hope and comfort to people, and creates credibility for other stories by highlighting multiple witnesses.
